    Description

Twisted Linen: non-absorbable suture of plant origin and multifilament structure, obtained from long linen fibers. It is easily manipulable with high tensile strength, which increases when the suture is kept in a moist environment. Twisted Linen strands produce a high tissue reaction and have high capillarity, which could enhance infection and delay healing. It is a non-absorbable suture suitable for procedures requiring high strength.

Twisted Linen is a non-absorbable plant-origin multifilament twisted surgical suture. Although it causes a significant tissue reaction, it does not have uniform diameter and gauge in its manufacturing and is highly hydratable. It has very good knot security and high tensile strength. The strands of this suture are not reabsorbed, but over time, tissue encapsulates them, and they lose 50% of their strength in a period of 6 to 9 months.

    Other Characteristics

    • Color: white.
    • Gauge: from 10/0 to 2/0 USP.
    • Sterilization with ethylene oxide.
    • Boxes of 12 or 36 units.

    Recommended Procedures

    • Suture indicated in general, gastrointestinal, gynecology/obstetrics, and general ligations surgery. It can be used in any procedure where tissue support is required for a non-prolonged period, and tensile strength is not extreme.
    • These multifilament strands may favor infection, so it is not advisable to use them if infection is present, and their fibers tend to separate.
