Vital Sutures
Absorbable Sutures
Absorbable surgical sutures are used to hold tissues together and to secure blood vessels, as well as in various procedures based on the properties and characteristics of the thread and needle. They can be: degraded by enzymes (in the case of natural catgut sutures) or hydrolyzed by tissue fluids (in the case of synthetic sutures), and they do not need to be removed. The degradation process leads to a gradual reduction in the strength of the sutures.
