Black Braided Nylon: synthetic non absorbable suture composed of aliphatic long-chain polymers, Nylon 6 and 6.6. It’s a suture of similar use but with greater strength and which generates less tissue reaction than Silk sutures. This synthetic non absorbable suture has high tensile strength, produces almost no tissue reaction, shows excellent elasticity, presents a soft passage through tissue, and is eventually encapsulated by connective tissue. Additionally, it provides an excellent knot security.

Description

Black Braided Nylon is a non absorbable surgical suture of braided multifilament structure, with a coating which facilitates its handling. The inflammatory tissue reaction produced by the Black Braided Nylon non absorbable suture is minimal; it is resistant to organic enzymes, and because of being extracted in monofilament threads of no capillarity, it does not facilitate bacterial growth. Although it is a non absorbable suture, it disintegrates by hydrolysis at a rate of 15-20% per year. Its braided multifilament structure gives greater security and firmness to the knot.

Indications:

  • This suture is indicated for general surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, general closure, cuticular, skin closure and ligatures. Suitable for approximations and / or ligatures of soft tissues in general, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological procedures. Especially indicated in procedures involving rapid tissue regeneration.
  • The gradual loss of tensile strength of this non absorbable suture may occur with prolonged use in vivo, so it is not advisable to use the Black Braided Nylon suture in cases where permanent tensile strength is required.
